The Moira Corcoran Zines and Coffee Morning

Join festival artist in residence Natalia Beylis and Rita Hynes of the Drogheda Zine Fair for a collective zine-making workshop inspired by the writing, community organising and activism of the late Drogheda historian, Moira Corcoran.

Participants will learn to make zines by engaging in creative story gathering, collaging, writing, and drawing from reused, archival, and shared materials.

Zines are a wonderful medium for art, storytelling, self-expression, and community building.

Through conversations we will explore the role of DIY publications in personal, cultural, and place-based documentation, while delving into their history and significance in archiving personal narratives and cultural stories.

We will use Moira Corcoran as the source from which we reimagine the place around us.

Providing photocopies of writing, interviews and other archival materials from her life and work – we can recollage, reimagine and use this to spring forth a new collective publication.

Participants are also welcome to bring along their own supplies and collage materials.

What if Moira’s vision for Drogheda had become the dominant paradigm?

Take an immersive dive into the world of publishing and creative expression and discover how zines can shape the identity of communities and strengthen community connections through shared stories and collaborative creativity.
