Edel McWeeney

Fiddle player Edel McWeeney was born and raised in Dublin city, where she took lessons with the great Seán Keane of the Chieftains at the Piper’s Club on Thomas Street. Going on to form a duet with fellow fiddle player Roma Casey, she was also a founding member of Macalla, the all-woman traditional group. She has toured and recorded widely, and is an experienced fiddle teacher and workshop facilitator.

Edel is known for her rhythmical, driving style of playing, and holds a residency with acclaimed flute player Catherine McEvoy at the Cobblestone in Smithfield, Dublin.
