Frank Tate

Frank Tate is a luthier from Belfast who has been based in Dublin for over thirty years. He studied stringed-instrument-making in Glasgow while undertaking an apprenticeship with luthier Graham Wright. He later spent two years at Guildhall University, London, where he studied early strings and baroque instrument-making. Frank has a workshop on Dublin’s Capel Street and is undertaking a restoration project of the old Harmonic Strings factory on the North Circular Road to establish Dublin’s first school of luthiery.
