The Night Before Larry Got Stretched (‘Larry’ for short) is a collective of traditional singers from Dublin, Ireland. Founded in 2012, the group began hosting monthly singing sessions in The Cobblestone pub, Smithfield, with the aim of creating a youth-led space for the practice, enjoyment and dissemination of traditional singing.
Since then, ‘Larry has provided over a decade worth of programming, providing a platform for singers of all levels, from the novice to the most revered names in the Irish song tradition, such as Christy Moore, Kitty Cassidy and Nell Ní Chróinín.

“There can be few places in the world where unaccompanied singing holds such a pride of place.” – The Irish Times

“Unaccompanied singing is enjoying a glorious revival amongst a new generation of singers and listeners.” – Christy Moore

The Nightingale Singing Session

Launching in March 2022, ‘The Nightingale Singing Session’ in Belfast’s American Bar has gone from strength to strength. Welcoming and inclusive, it brings together singers from across different traditions and particularly encourages new singers.
Songs from Ireland, Scotland and England form the mainstay of material sung but songs from Canada, Korea, Spain, France and Armenia have also been sung.
