The Ardee Bog Deep Mapping Project is a long form collaborative arts and counter mapping project based in Ardee, County Louth. Deep Mapping is a practice that goes beyond traditional cartography to represent the multifaceted nature of place.
The project is led by socially engaged artist and local ditch hag Helen Flanagan.
Helen is a multidisciplinary artist with a collaborative socially engaged practice, from county Louth. She is also a member and artist within Friends of Ardee Bog (a peatlands community group based in Ardee, Co Louth).
Helen makes folk theatre, audio visual and participatory event based work. She is interested in narratives/counter narratives, folk culture, informal education, satire and participatory magic and, sees her work as part of a wider agenda of working towards reimagining and changing the systems that are moving us towards social and climate catastrophe
